About The Artist

Senior Artist Suk Byoun

lives in Seoul, South Korea, where she first learned traditional and contemporary dance. It was exposure to backstage costume preparation that first fuelled her love of makeup. “I realized at that point that it was a real art form,” she explains. Her career highlight is working with South Korean pop star Lee Hyori, who she now counts as a regular client. “I had the opportunity to work with her on the swimsuit shooting for Cosmopolitan,” she explains, “and those pictures influenced almost every girl’s summer glam in the year 2006.” For Suk, working for M·A·C is an opportunity to shape contemporary trends and work for an organization dedicated to promoting inclusion and acceptance.

In the Red

“No one does red lipstick quite like M·A·C. Ruby Woo is the most beautiful jewel-red lipstick in the world! I also love Lady Danger for a more orange tone, or Lady Bug for something glossier. If you’re going for a bold lip, just wear it with a mascara that emphasizes the eyes. I’d recommend Extended Play Lash, which is great for Asian lashes because it gives volume and definition.”

Wings of Desire

“I’m a big fan of winged eyeliner, which goes especially well with red lipstick. I use On the Hunt Superslick Liquid Eye Liner to create maximum impact. If you like a simple, more sixties look, try wearing eyeliner with a more neutral tone of lipstick, like Razzlerdazzler. It’s really hot in South Korea! The women love wearing it with a smoky eye to look like rock stars!”

Skin Deep

“A good base is crucial.  I recommend using Prep + Prime Beauty Balm SPF 35, which is great for men and women. Apply after your moisturizer and use Medium or Medium Dark Mineralize Skinfinish for an overall natural look. I’m also a big fan of Mineralize Charged Water: Revitalizing Energy, which gives a really beautiful, dewy finish.”
